Role of a solicitor

The role of a solicitor in a conveyancing transaction depends on which party the solicitor is representing in the transaction.

The solicitor for the vendor has to ensure that the vendor receives the purchase price from the purchaser or the purchaser’s financier for the vendor’s property in accordance to the agreed form of payment and the terms of conditions provided for in the sale and purchase agreement.

It is also the duty of the vendor’s solicitors to ensure that the property is transferred or assigned to the purchaser in accordance to the terms of the sale and purchase agreement.
